I am trying to create a new campaign setting in a more modern era. However I am going to mess it up with some fantasy elements such as elves dwarves magic undead and namely all normal fantasy things. I was going to do it in Alternity since I know that system and the complexities of FX and Psionics but I am wondering if I totally messed with modern D20 would be easier to do. I know nothing of modern D20 and actually am not that versatile with D20 itself but it would be easier to grab the fantasy elements. Anybody have any suggestions. For those it might actually mean something the campaign is Dawn of Magic.

I will admit I am biased, as I was involved in the creature design for the True20 core book, and I am writing the True20 Bestiary, but I would totally recommend True20 over d20 modern. The system is much simpler, and much more versatile. And the skill-based magic system is MUCH more flexible than d20's "fire-and-forget" magic. Check out the previews on www.true20.com !

I checked out all the free stuff from the site on true 20 and i think you are right. The magic system is exactly what I was thinking of doing for the campaign. Plus and this is the big thing the classes given can go easily between modern setting and fantasy which is HUGE. My biggest problem right is trying to find the gamebook itself. My normal hobby shop says that true 20 is not out yet at least that is what their retailer says. Anyway ill be looking at the other stores around to get some hope for getting the setting. When i finally get things up and running i will post what i got for some well wished for review.
